A Cloud Server is by far a better option than VPS (Virtual Private Server) hosting. While both are virtual servers, the main difference is that a VPS is part of a single physical server and shares that machine's resources with other VPSs. This carries a latent risk if something goes wrong with the physical server.
Our Cloud Servers, on the other hand, are virtual machines whose resources (CPU, RAM and storage) are distributed across multiple servers. In addition, data is replicated three times across different nodes, guaranteeing High Availability (HA) and keeping your application running if one or more physical servers fail.
Another important advantage of Cloud Servers is greater flexibility and control when you need to scale. You can increase resources such as CPU, RAM, disk space and transfer at any time with a couple of clicks.
Finally, with our Cloud Servers you can choose from multiple operating systems, applications and configurations, letting you change the server's entire software stack in minutes from a simple, intuitive interface.
At Donweb.cloud you have a wide range of operating systems, panels and technology stacks that you can install in minutes with our Click&Go feature.
Visit https://marketplace.donweb.com to explore all available options and their versions.
Every Cloud Server comes with an initial monthly transfer quota of 1 Terabyte. This is more than enough for most projects. You can also monitor and increase this quota in real time from your control panel if you need to.
As for bandwidth, each Cloud Server offers 300 Mb/s dedicated and symmetric. Keep in mind that bandwidth restrictions may apply if you use your server for proxy or streaming services.
For latency and speed tests, you can ping or run a traceroute to: cloudmeter.donweb.com.
You can also download test files of 100 MB and 1 GB to evaluate performance.
(When testing, bear in mind that download speed may be affected by your Internet provider.)
Transfer between Cloud Servers over the internal network is not counted towards consumption, so it will not be deducted from your quota.
Note that if you plan to use your Cloud Server as a proxy or for streaming services, we may apply bandwidth restrictions.
The storage specified in your configuration is fully available for your files, applications, sites, databases and email.
The space required by the operating system and the control panel (or the technology stack you choose) is provided as additional storage at no cost on your Cloud Servers. This extra space varies depending on the size of the operating system image. For example, if you purchase 10 GB of storage and choose the CentOS image with the Ferozo panel, the total space allocated to your server will be approximately 16 GB, about 6 GB more than what you contracted.
At any point during your cloud server subscription you can increase or decrease resources quickly and easily:
These resources are prorated by day.
For example: if you purchase a cloud server for 3 months (90 days) and on day 40 you want to increase resources, we will charge you the difference for the new resources over the remaining 50 days. Likewise, if you decrease resources we will credit the difference in your favour for the remaining days to your customer account. You can then use that credit to pay for renewals, new purchases or even future resource upgrades.
Upgrade: Once the difference is paid, you choose when to apply the resource change on the server, because it requires a reboot of about 3 to 5 minutes and you will probably want to apply it at a time that does not affect traffic to your sites.
Downgrade: The change is applied immediately once you proceed and the server will reboot for about 3 to 5 minutes.
IMPORTANT: Storage can be increased but not reduced.
At Donweb Cloud you can purchase software licenses quickly and easily. These include:
Each license is assigned to a single Cloud Server, and you can add, remove or modify a license at any time during your subscription period.
Windows Server, SQL Server and Windows Remote Desktop Services licenses are prorated monthly, which determines how the charge (or refund) is calculated when you add or remove the license.
Ferozo and cPanel licenses, on the other hand, are prorated monthly when added or removed, and daily when you change the number of hosting accounts on each license.
For example, if you purchase a cloud server for 3 months and, on day 3 of the second month, you decide to add a Ferozo or cPanel license, you will be charged for the current month plus the remaining month. Likewise, if you remove a license you had from the start during the second month, you will be credited the equivalent of one month of service.
In addition, with cPanel and the Ferozo panel you can modify the license according to the number of hosting accounts you need. In this case, daily proration is used to calculate the proportional charge or refund.
If you already have your own licenses for this software, you can also use them on your Cloud Server. In that case, we will ask you for some information to verify their validity.
Each Cloud Server includes two dedicated public IPs, one IPv4 and one IPv6.
Worldwide, IPv4 addresses are exhausted and the industry is migrating to a global IPv6 infrastructure. That said, if you need more IPs you can contact us. We generally do not provide more than one IPv4, but for IPv6 we can assign you additional addresses on request.
The IPs assigned to each Cloud Server may be geolocated in Argentina or the United States. This assignment is automatic, and it is not possible to select a specific location on request.
At Donweb we offer four complementary backup methods to maximise the safety of your data:
Automatic server backup:
We run weekly automatic backups of your cloud server as a disaster recovery measure. Optionally, you can purchase daily backups with retention of the last 30 copies for an additional fee. For more details on these options, visit this link.
Real-time replicas:
All the content of your Cloud Server, from the operating system to your site files and databases, is replicated in real time across three different storage servers. This ensures business continuity even in the event of a hardware failure.
Backups of sites, email and databases:
From any of the panels we offer, you can schedule automatic backups of hosting accounts, email and databases. You can choose to store these backups locally or in external destinations such as FTP servers, Google Drive, another Cloud Server, etc. You can also generate manual backups whenever you need them.
Snapshots (server images):
These are exact copies of your Cloud Server that you can create at any time, in real time, with a single click. They work as an instant snapshot of the server's complete state and are stored in an external private space that only you can access.
Snapshots are ideal when you are about to make critical changes or updates, allowing a fast restore if something goes wrong. However, they are automatically deleted after 28 days, so they are not recommended as a long-term backup solution.
For more information about snapshots, click this link.
Snapshots are exact copies of your Cloud Server that you can create at any time. They act as instant photographs capturing all the server's data and configuration at the moment they are created, letting you restore them whenever you need to.
Snapshots are managed from your Client Area, where you can also use them to create a new Cloud Server identical to the original.
It is important to remember that snapshots should be used in two main cases:
Keep in mind that snapshots are deleted after a period of time, generally 28 days from creation, so they should not be considered a long-term backup method.
Up to 2 snapshots are included free of charge for each of your Cloud Servers.
You can find more information about snapshots at this link.
The time depends on the image you choose for the installation. Here are some reference times:
IMPORTANT: The Cloud Server is created within minutes and will appear as active in the interface almost immediately. However, after this initial process, all the software related to the technology stack you chose is installed and the necessary updates are applied. During this phase, even though the Cloud Server shows as active, you may run into errors when trying to use the software from the image you selected.
Yes, you can re-create your Cloud Server choosing whichever OS you want, whenever you need to. Keep in mind that some operating systems, such as Windows, require a license in order to be created, as does choosing an OS with a pre-installed hosting control panel such as cPanel or Ferozo.
Yes, all our Cloud Servers come with a firewall preconfigured by default, which you can easily manage from your Client Area through an intuitive visual interface. You also have the option of installing an additional firewall inside your Cloud Server if you prefer.
Every time you create or reconfigure a Cloud Server, the firewall is automatically adjusted to match the software in the selected image.
You can find more information about the Virtual Firewall for Cloud Servers at this link.
At DonWeb we have several layers of protection to mitigate denial-of-service attacks such as SYN, ICMP and UDP flood, Ping of Death, Smurf, etc. This also covers attacks that attempt to saturate our network's bandwidth.
In the case of severe, large-scale attacks, mitigation systems located upstream, at the level of our connectivity providers (carriers), are activated. These are triggered automatically within the first 5 minutes of the attack starting.
If attacks are smaller and targeted at specific servers, the mitigation systems inside our datacenters are activated. These filtering systems use rules that are updated periodically and work automatically.
In addition, our Network Operation Center staff monitors the networks 24x7x365 and will act promptly on any traffic anomaly detected.
Beyond DDoS, there are many different kinds of cyberattacks that can affect your sites. That is why we recommend that you:
Yes, all our Cloud Servers are managed. We continuously monitor the network and the status of every node to guarantee optimal operation. In addition, if your server uses the Ferozo panel, we also take care of updates and security patches.
Our Cloud Server nodes are located in Argentina, in one of our four datacenters, with IPs located in Argentina or the United States.
For latency and speed tests, you can ping or run a traceroute to: cloudmeter.donweb.com.
You can also download test files of 100 MB and 1 GB to evaluate performance.
Don't worry! Here are some basic guidelines to help you decide the best starting point. Besides, one of the great advantages of our Cloud Servers is that you can adjust resources at any time, and the process takes less than 5 minutes.
Here are some general recommendations:
Minimal Linux installation (no applications or hosting panels): You can start with 1 vCPU and 1 GB of RAM. This configuration is ideal for experimenting with the basics of Linux.
Linux with control panels or web applications (cPanel/Ferozo/CyberPanel, Moodle, WordPress, Odoo, NodeJS, etc.): We recommend starting with at least 2 vCPU and 2 GB of RAM. As your site or web application goes into production and traffic grows, you may need to increase resources.
Windows or Windows with the Ferozo control panel: We suggest an initial configuration of 4 vCPU and 4 GB of RAM for optimal performance.
In every case, you can monitor your Cloud Server's performance from the statistics screen and adjust resources as needed.
If you have a high-demand project, feel free to contact us so our engineers can design a custom infrastructure for you.
If you need more than 480 GB of storage, we offer Cloud Volumes of up to 1 TB each.
These volumes work as network-accessible storage blocks, providing additional space for your data. Similar to an external hard drive, you can attach and detach them from your Cloud Servers as needed, as well as format them and increase their capacity at any time.
Each Cloud Server supports attaching up to 10 Cloud Volumes.
Yes, our servers include an SSL certificate.
Depending on the software installed, there are different options for using a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate or a commercial SSL certificate.
All Linux Cloud Servers include SSH access with "root" permissions, while servers with a Windows installation provide access through Remote Desktop with "admin" permissions. In both cases, you can connect using the public IP or a provided hostname.
You also have access through an application called VNC, which runs in your web browser and emulates a Linux console or a Windows Remote Desktop, as applicable.
In addition, if you use hosting control panels such as cPanel or Ferozo, or install application images such as WordPress, Odoo, Moodle, etc., we will provide you with the necessary administrator-level credentials.
All access details are available in your Client Area so you can look them up at any time.
Of course! We recommend using a control panel such as Ferozo, cPanel or CloudPanel to make managing your server and hosting accounts easier and faster. From your Cloud Server administration, you can purchase the licenses you need and install the panels with just a few clicks, leaving everything configured and ready to use.
The Ferozo Control Panel offers an Unlimited Accounts license, which lets you manage as many websites as you need from the start. If you go with cPanel, you can choose licenses for 5, 30, 50 or 100 hosting accounts, and you have the flexibility to adjust the license to your project's needs.
You can also opt for other panels available on the market, but in that case installation and configuration are up to you.
Yes, all our Cloud Servers allow you to point your domains to them.
If you use a hosting control panel such as cPanel or Ferozo, you can manage the domain and the DNS zone directly from the panel's interface. If you are not using a control panel, you can also manage your domains' DNS through an interface in your Client Area.
You can find the DNS records for delegating your domains at this link.
At this link you will find all the information about the name servers you should delegate your domains to.
Yes, absolutely! At DonWeb you can purchase Microsoft product licenses such as Windows Server, SQL Server and Terminal Server easily and at a very convenient price. However, if you already have some of these licenses you can use them on your server. Keep in mind that for this we will ask you for the following documentation:
Our support team will then take care of installing the software and applying the corresponding license.
